Together and by Ourselves
I opened the window so I could hear people. Last night we were together by ourselves.
Alex Diminitrov
We are together and by ourselves.
Opening the window feels like the pages in my journal filled with words I want to say. Opening the window feels like seeking safety in a dangerous space. Opening the window feels like reaching out with an open heart only to be met with vitriol. Opening the window feels like creating enemies in a world of misunderstanding.
We are together and by ourselves.
Time weaves us together and time’s threads unravel. Separated by miles has never before meant being by ourselves. Perhaps being together by ourselves is inevitable. Perhaps being together by ourselves is where peace is found. This does not feel peaceful. I am scared it will become peaceful over time. Perhaps being together by ourselves will change someday — as change is constant in life.
