You Can’t Have It All
There is the voice you can still summon at will, like your mother’s,/ it will always whisper, you can’t have it all,/ but there is this.
Barbara Ras, You Can’t Have It All
What is all? Where do balance and rest and center and discipline fit into all? Where do hope and possibility and not yet fit into all? In the midst of it all, do we even want it all?
I think of discernment. I think of stillness. I think of steady. I think of breath. An all held in all that makes sense to me .
I believe we can have it all. The biggest part of having it all is knowing our all. Let me explain. We each have an all. We can listen and pay attention and seek and learn our all. We can surround ourselves with people who support us as we seek and live our all. We can be people who quiet our mind and help others quiet their minds, too. A quiet mind knows a healthy all. All is about saying yes and saying no. All is generous and open hearted. All is positive and grounded.
You can have it all.
